Why should I hire a tax attorney?

Our law firm represents Cook and Lake County, Illinois property owners throughout the entire appeal process.

– We are licensed and insured attorneys.

– Unless you represent yourself, only an attorney can appear before the Board of Review, the Property Tax Appeal Board, and the Circuit Court. This increases our clients’ chances of a successful result.

– We are well-versed with property tax laws, procedures, and polices on both the local and state levels.

Appeal.tax is powered by Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit; a law firm trusted by thousands of clients since 1983. Our attorneys will utilize their experience to reduce your property tax burden.

What's the difference between a tax consultant and a tax attorney?

Unlike tax consultants, attorneys are licensed and insured. Additionally, tax consultants cannot appear before the Board of Review, the Property Tax Appeal Board, and the Circuit Court.

How long does the appeal process take?

The appeal process can take anywhere between 6-12 months, depending on when the appeal is received and a decision is reached by County officials. There are also varying levels of appeals (Board of Review, Property Tax Appeal Board, Circuit Court) that can impact the appeal decision timeframe.

During the entire appeal process, Appeal.tax will work diligently and aggressively to reduce your property tax liability and ensure you are only paying your fair portion in taxes.
